GM has many problems most of them self-inflicted. It says that health care adds $1500/vehicle which is more than the cost of the steel for said vehicle. I'm sure, like many employers, it wants to get out from under that burden.

Howard Schultz of Starbucks talks about the coming crisis with health care all the time. He grew up in the projects and remembered his father getting injured and having no insurance so it's a big deal to him. Sad to see that things haven't changed that much in his lifetime except for costs going through the roof.

I think many people use alternative medicines but don't tell their doctors. There is a reason that BigPharma spends more on advertising than on R&D...people are making their own medical decisions because they no longer trust the health care system.

Alzheimers incidents may be increasing because 'senility' is now regarded as a disease instead of as a natural symptom of aging. We are also living longer although there seems to be an increasing number of younger people, say in their 40s and 50s who are also coming down with it.
