Max, I think you are taking that whole 'press one' thing too literally. This has nothing to do with intolerance, prejudice or language. I'm somewhat literate in french and english. My spanish is kinda limited to a few words like que and te chinga :) My wife, those two plus spanish and hungarian. I find it intolerable to pay 10 grand in taxes and yet not be able to put my daughter in public school because the literacy rate is 30%. Press (1) if you want your kid to learn spanish, (2) for russian, (3) for chinese. Beeeeep, 'you have selected number (3)'. But 3 wont be available because we've (the gov) spent all the resources and focus catering to a specific group, to the detriment of our choice, our democracy. I see this country (no matter what political bent) allowing an unequal group to immigrate into this country at the loss of every other immigrant population on the planet. There's a whole slew of foreigners wanting to come, but they can't, cause the flight has been overbooked. Furthermore, the dual language thing is a tax. For the individual and the greater population. I grew up in Quebec, where money was pissed away duplicating government effort, and replacing road signs so the verb could be placed before the noun, for the disingenuous ideology of cultural preservation. I'm back there frequently and I can say that the average blue collar french canadian is in worse shape financially than when Montreal was in its heyday, 40 years ago ! In conclusion I want to say that we're in this mess because we've become lazy like the colonials. We'd rather get a wetback (sic) to mow our lawn for 20 bucks than a college kid for 40. We want to eat out in restaurants but wont spend $120 a head when we can get it for $60. We all want cheap stuff, so we import it. Personally, I would pay 4 grand for a computer or 20 bux for a tshirt knowing we are a self sufficient. The gov knows this and allows it. Imagine if we really had inflation ? Imagine a Mickey D's burger was 10 bux, heaven forbid. The dow would be at 4000, and growth would be anemic. Can't have that, woohoo, print away !! But I will concede that alot of people are pissed off and outright prejudice for no reason other than to hoist the whites-only flag.

Your implication that those who favor English as the American language are somehow affiliated with or sympathetic to the KKK is nothing more than blatant racism. Your statement also implies that it is the non-Hispanic Americans who are the whiners, as if Hispanic Americans are entitled to whine.
