The Rightwing Invented Character Assassination. Just look at McCarthyism where anyone of a liberal bent was mischaracterized as "communist" including people like folksinger Pete Seeger and composer Aaron Copland. WHo is more truly American than those two? Look at the atrociously evil smear jobs on McCain, Kerry, Cleland and Murtha, all four of them brave heroic Silver Star winning combat heros, plus the smears against Wilsoin and Plamne, who are also both proven heros who risked their lives for their country. Not a single thing the rightwing about ANY of them was true. Look at the evil smears of Ann Coulter who called John Edwards a faggot and claimed the 9-11 Widows enjoyed their husbands' deaths. Or how about the lies about Gore's house wasting ten times as much energy as the norm, when it was just his expensive energy bill for green energy systems which cost a lot more for the time being. As for Cheney, the man is as guilty as sin. You can't even begin to fathom how corrupt that man is. He has his hands in every major scandal in DC these days, it seems, and he knowingly lied countless times to get us into Iraq.
