"and one would have a heart of stone to wish them anything other than good luck and Godspeed."

yup
nicely said

I agree with you completely.

But you know, now that I think about it, if you really hated the democrats, it could be really hard to see such a darn inspirational one roaming around. I'm sure that's what's behind the negative comments- pure envy. Edwards and his family are, at least right now, a fine example of faith, family, love and dedication- for the truly partisan, that's got to be a bad thing (remember, the "other" side is not allowed any good qualities, they are supposed to be "all" evil). So I think this issue sorts the completely partisan, from the mere conservatives. IMO, of course.

There's no point giving up anything at the moment, because nobody knows how Elizabeth Edwards' cancer will progress. She may be fortunate, she may be unfortunate, it's way too early to tell.

You and I and millions of others know what it's like to have a close family member succumb to metastatic cancer -- it's simply not possible to lead a normal life during that. You become part of the walking wounded yourself.

But it's also not possible to understand that in advance. The imagination can't make that transition voluntarily.

They can tell you all about grief in advance but you still have to live it, every step of the way, when it's time.
