And he's never once been asked about it...>> In reality, lately, it has become clear in recent years that a signature alone is not needed to validate the purchase. If your father handed over the card or ran it thru the card machine, he made the purchase, and the actual card holder is expected to pay the bill. I've done business with some retail establishments who require no signature at all on any receipt at all. That's why it's truly amusing when some nutcase won't take your card because you haven't signed the back of the card in your own handwriting, and card companies still have fine print on the back of each card stating a signature is required to make the card valid......yeah, right.

I put only CHECK I.D.! on the back of ALL cards... and yet few check...no wonder there is fraud beyond belief
