Some states pay a subsidy to farmers for leaving strips for pheasants. I think that went by the wayside.

In my early days, I did a survey of fence rows in Ohio to determine how much black walnut was growing in them. We didn't find any. Amazing what politicians will pay for.

Did you get any of those Japanese beetles they brought in to control soybean beetles? They took off and started proliferating everywhere. We thought we smelled something cooking in our bedroom at MIL's in Ohio. It was dead Japanese beetles in the ceiling lamp. Lots of them.

They look like ladybugs, but unlike ladybugs they do bite!
