Good explanation and I hope Kucinich follows through with a bill. It would give his campaign a real boost imo, because then the corporate media couldn't ignore him like they do now..

<<,Even progressive Democratic representatives seem to have bought into this cynical thinking. How else to explain Rep. Conyers’ repudiation of his own book, even as it’s about to come out in paperback? How else to explain the deafening silence of progressives like Reps. Waters, Rangel, Jesse Jackson Jr., and, at least until this week, Dennis Kucinich?

I’m hoping that at least Kucinich will finally stand up and reject this cynical Democratic thinking, and file a bill of impeachment, giving Rep. Conyers the chance to redeem himself by standing up to Pelosi et al. If he does stand up, and begins hearings on an impeachment bill, I hope other progressive Democrats—and maybe a few principled Republicans?--will join him by filing their own impeachment bills. I hope state legislators in Vermont, Washington state, New Jersey and elsewhere, will take heart from what Kucinich appears ready to do, and will shrug off the pressure from Democratic national leaders, listen to their own residents, and pass joint resolutions calling for Congress to initiate impeachment hearings, too.

GO DUCKS....:)

The GOP is standing strong on some issues so a 2/3 majority cannot be achieved in the Senate to impeach, but more importantly convict, Bush and Cheney.

Until his own party leaves his side, impeachment would be a purely partisan diversion for a Congress that has lots of work to do.

And the last thing the Democrats need to do is create an incumbent for the 2008 elections.

At first I was not happy about Pelosi's stand against impeachment. However, I see the wisdom in her decision more clearly as time proceeds.

They need to work toward getting our troops out of harms way before they put another hawk in the White House.........and that's what would happen.

Bush will pardon anyone that gets convicted of anything between now and the end of his term, so lets get something done that's constructive..........energy, war in Iraq, global warming, social security, the idiot prescription drug bill that is costing our seniors tons of money, etc.

If one of these investigations discovers something egregious enough to turn more GOP senators against Bush then they can do the impeachment to remove him. But until that happens, it would be fruitless.
