My wife and I watched Secretary of State Colin Powell
at the UN. I remember saying to my wife something
to the effect boy, I don't know, those pictures--
they don't look very threatening to me. That just looks
like a few trucks.
etc etc.

How about that, turns out it was all blown out of
proportion. And seems to me there should be cheaper
ways of removing dictators than launching $300B crusades.

let's go back to why we went into iraq

And why did we go into Iraq? The administration has given several reasons - which version are you buying today? Isn't this the crux of what is going on right now John - Congressional hearings to determine why and how we got into this mess? I say, open government the more open the better. And yes democrats were sucked in, that is my point regarding "mindset".

how iraq turned out is another subject.

No it is another chapter of the same story. Wars go wrong by their very nature. To think that they would throw "flowers at our feet" as Cheney suggested is to demonstrate just what a bizarre fairy land these guys were/are living in.

The administration failings in the management of the war is one of the reasons it has gone so bad. Here is why I think people who even at one time supported the war should reconsider;

news.yahoo.com

People with means have left. Who do you think is still there? Would you be still there if you had any choice?

yes John: lets go back...I take it you were someone supportive of going into iraq and believed the trumped up nonsense that landed us there? And today, you would be supportive if only it had just turned out differently?

i expect if saddam had it do over again he may have welcomed avoiding a war.

There was NO way he could have avoided the invasion. Your Dumbyasshole was hell bent on invasion.

And now he is hell bent on getting as many US troops killed as possible.
