KT,

If you were creating a currency index to track vs. value of the dollar and wanted to include 3 to 5, or maybe even up to 10 currencies to compare the dollar to in a weighted index, what currencies would you include - and any thoughts on how you'd weight them?

I was thinking of an index including the
- euro and GBpound
- japan yen, korea won, china yuan, india rupee
- canada $, mexican peso, brazil real?

and maybe mixing by weight 40/40/20 or something similar for europe, asia, and americas. or other approach you prefer?

I don't currently know much about currencies or relative importance of but have just been looking at trends at sites like this federalreserve.gov trying to understand how to protect myself and gauge the overall loss in buying power the USD is having over time.

I guess the major currency index would work too
federalreserve.gov

thanks in advance.
