Carter let Islamic radicals unseat an ally in the ME, the Shah of Iran. His weakness encouraged the Soviets to invade Afghanistan. Following 911, Bush has overthrown two hostile terror supporting ME regimes and replaced them with democratic governments allied to the US. The internationl proliferation security initiative he began discovered Libya's nuclear program, whereupon Libya's ruler was cowed into allowing the US to remove his nuclear weapons development equipment to Oak Ridge TN for destruction. Bush has initiated a defense pact with India, traditionally in the Soviet orbit. Islamists promised new followup terror attacks against America after 911, yet none have occurred. I don't think its because they just decided to be nice.
