"Roger Penske nice interview on Bloomberg this weekend. Optimistic on Detroit coming back."

Hmmm...if memory serves me correct Penske bailed from some of his New York area Cadillac dealerships in the early to mid '80's. Some support, eh?

Also, he won't live long enuf to see the revival, if there ever is one.

As a side note, I had an opportunity to meet him in 1985, corner 5 hospitality tent, Elkhart Lake Road America. Seems he took a disliking to me for taking a couple of his drivers (along with a few others) out on Lake Michigan for a late evening, good 'ol boys, "one for the road" nightcap aboard my boat the evening before qualifying.

Pancho Carter introduced me to him...and then identified me as the culprit.

Needless to say, I wasn't the most popular person in the tent.

Lots of people I know say they would like to live in Chicago or New York, or to a complete list of other places in fact -- but I've yet to meet anyone who's ever told me they'd like to move to Detroit. Maybe I'm not hanging out in the right circles.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a hate on for Detroit. On the contrary, I suspect I'm more disappointed than most about what it's become over the past 50 years. There was a glimmer of hope during the SUV boom, but with all due respect to Mr. Penske, now that the boom is over, things are now heading downhill fast all over again.

Check out the foreclosure rate for Detroit -- it's the highest in the country -- it's going to get real oogly again 72.14.205.104
