TJ, I dislike any kind of genocide, even involving one person, if that person can be persuaded to avoid attacking people or taking their property against their will. The fact that the English could fit a lot more people happily into NZ, Oz, Canada and USA than could the local yokels doesn't mean they were to all effectively empty space. The local yokels took great exception to that idea, but found themselves unable to do much about the encroaching "the more the merrier" ideology. Being from a nasty crowded place with several people per square metre, stacked one on top of the other, breathing air akin to miso soup, I can see you'd mistakenly think such places were empty. I wonder how many people you could stack on top of each other before you started to think that there were too many people. I suspect that 6 billion could turn out to be too many for the current DNA profiles and ways of life we have at the moment. It's notable that large cities are very much less hospitable and pleasant than uncrowded places. It's not that I advocate genocide, so much as I think China and others might opt for genocide in the same way that crickets, when crowded enough so that their legs bump too much together, turn into locusts, swarming and destroying. When people get too crowded, maybe they'll start to find genocide and other carnage an attractive way of life. Islamic Jihad generally lives in very crowded places. The thinking engendered seems alien to richer and less crowded Americans, British and Kiwis. Yes, Oxford Street is packed on a good shopping day. But one doesn't go down that street every day and the total number of people so crowded is tiny in the free world. Which isn't, of course, free. I think everyone should buy a CDMA cyberphone, calm down, and get back to work. Unfortunately, Islamic Jihad is adopting a genocidal approach to population control. Eugenics should be left to women, who do it all the time. In China for example, the Flynn Effect must be alive and well, with the huge surplus of males meaning those ranked low will be rejected by women and their DNA recycled to more desirable males. Women rank intelligence highly and the difference between chimps and humans suggests that is true. So they'll choose smarter men. Ipso facto, Flynn Effect in action. Mqurice
