Liberalism is the opposite of USSR communism. USSR communism was a fraud. They started out saying they were for "the people" then crapped on the people and turned it into a fascist-style military dictatorship and police state where they stripped away democracy and stomp out free speech and civil rights. Liberals are obviously for the opposite of that. However, Bushie rightwingers agree to some degree with USSR style communism as well as fascism in general.
