Well, ROME is over. I would have posted sooner but SI was down for me this morning. I was sort of sad with the ending, hated to see one of the heroes die, especially when IMHO he represented the kind of ideals we normally would look up too.
I will miss the series, it was a GREAT one. jdn

So glad you found this piece. I will remove it from my queue at Blockbuster. I don't need some punk hollywood director preaching to me through the silver screen.

On the subject of the anti-military crowd permeating the halls of congress and influencing Americans. I believe that the driving force behind all of their attempts to end our war effort is their anti-gun zealotry. Obviously the two go hand in hand, and I believe they just can't stand the idea of anyone holding a gun let alone shooting one, even in a combat situation which they so ignorantly believe would disappear if everyone just gave up gun ownership.

Of course this is naive and unrealistic, and we know that when asked what we should do about the criminal element of society.....including other nations and terrorists.....we do not get a satisfactory answer.

They are dead set against anyone having guns........ although I don't know how they would expect police to protect civilians against the huge black market that would supply weapons and thrive if they are successful in removing guns from ordinary citizens?
