We had a 19 year old Texas A&M female missing here. She was last seen with an ex-boyfriend during Spring Break. Quanel X picked him up and he confessed to strangling her and putting her body in a apartment dumpster and took him right to it. They didn't find her body. The police then arrested him and took custody of him. The refuge in the dumpster had been picked up twice and was taken to two different dump areas since she went missing. There was a controversy going on about how much it would cost to search two dumps and outrage over the estimate.

Our sheriff came on TV and said there would be no search and informed the public there was no body, that he had cut her up in pieces and cooked those pieces to ashes. There is no body. His neighbors saw him burning something on his porch grill and asked, he told them he was cooking for a wedding of a relative. These fires went on for a couple of days without stopping. They said it had an odor and heavy black smoke was filling up the area. Fire department called and responded, but saw nothing unusual just a grill fire and no damages to his or other apartments so they left. The sheriff said he strangled her and then mutilated her in pieces because he was jealous of her breaking up with him and starting a relationship with another guy. This ex had been calling all her girlfriends trying to keep track of her and when the calls stopped they suspected that she was no longer alive, they told the police. The perpetrator is now in jail under a 250,000.00 bond. The young woman's family is devastated beyond words and they may never get over this terrible crime. The young man involved is 29 years old, and if tried will probably get the death penalty which demands automatic appeals and he will not likely die until all appeals are exhausted and that can take up to 15 years or more. After that happens then a death date can be set by a Judge. Her family and many of her friends questioned the age difference and felt he was nothing but trouble for her because of his possessiveness. She told her friends she did not want to come home for Spring Break because of him and was very afraid of him, but did want to see her family and she left her parents home with him never to be seen again. I wonder if fear overcomes common sense in a situation like this. Legal injection is just too easy for him in this case. He has all but destroyed both his and her family. What a tragedy and a terrible solution to render power and revenge for one's own shortcomings. This is the second death of a coed being murdered by an ex-boyfriend at that university, although neither murderer attended school there at the time.

One can only hope he is given a speedy trial date. I don't think trying to wait until the shock of this is over will keep anyone from remembering the facts of this gruesome case a year or better down the road.
