It's all too devious for me to understand. I think it has something to do with staying narrowly within the confines of what is acceptable as the 'letter of the law' for the Catholic Church, regarding divorce and remarriage... so as to not INCUR their political opposition when he runs for office. Or... something like that. (I SAID it was too devious for me to follow, didn't I?)
