Since we can't do much to hasten their departure, you've got to try to find something positive. Many periods have been dangerous to our democracy (the McCarthy era, for example)- and yet, those were interesting times. You salvage what you can, and watch and learn. Sure, I worry about what this admin is capable of, and I wish it was over, but there isn't much good served by worrying, and we can't make the fat lady sing early.

I have become more optimistic about our country as I watched people respond to this crisis. Unlike the Vietnam war, I find opposition to this war is not creating (for the most part) crazed groups of fanatics. Mostly, it's been a pretty normal response- if you overlook the poor kids who obviously wish they hadn't missed out on the '60s, when you could worship Che without really having to come to terms with what communism did to the USSR and China.

Anyway, I do find bright spots in this whole fiasco that consists of our years with the Bush administration.
