Utter baloney. The British have been meddling in the region for far too long. Now look what has happened.

It's ridiculous to say that the countries in the region are responsible for the fiasco that is Iraq. You're just trying to make excuses.

Instead of guarding arms depots, Bush sent in troops to guard the Oil Ministry. It's far too late to say anything about 'contraband' when, during Saddam's regime only about 1/10th the number of 'pilgrims' were allowed to flow into Iraq. There aren't enough troops to guard the border then the military says that most contraband are coming through a couple of entry points. That statement then begs the question, why the blooming heck aren't they closing off those entries?

The number of mistakes and blunders would fill a phonebook.

As for the British, they're getting out anyway that much is quite clear. Instead of surging, they reduced their numbers but apparently not by enough.

Frankly, it's rather gratifying that Dubya didn't use this 'incident' to enlarge the war as many thought he might do. That is the good news of this week.
