That certainly sounds like a Greenspan scenario.

I'm hoping Bernanke is looking for a big splat followed by a money printing finish to soften the blow.

That's the problem with a Monetarist economy. Nothing follows the laws of economics. In a central command economy like ours all investment decisions hinge on what political decisions are made by the Fed, and whoever it is they might answer to.
