EC:

Must we rely on the CIA's studies to determine what is democratic or free in the world? Hopefully not.

The Americas have a wide range of cultures, economic systems, languages, ethnicities, business practices, geography, geology, legal practices, history, etc., etc. Why should we adopt the opinion of the "intelligence" services of the US of A to determine what is really going on in a particular country?

IMHO we have much better informed people on SI if we really want to know what's going on in a particular country.

>>"well, just investigate how many presidents they have had in the past 10 years"

Would that our neighbours to the south could change their presidents so easily. Makes me wonder which is the democracy.
