Look at the jump from a year ago <<According to the data, some 50 percent of the participants said they become fearful when they hear the Arabic language spoken around them. 43 percent said they feel uncomfortable, and 30 percent feel hatred. In contrast, last year only 17.5 percent said they feel hatred when faced with spoken Arabic.>>

i have said in past that what happened in Germany starting in the 1930s can, given the right circumstances can occur with a people anywhere on the face of the earth--absolutely anywhere.
Israel is proving a hard cold reality, they are no better than any other people on the face of this earth.
But it seems evil flourishes where the message is you are BETTER than the others.
This is sad.
But hey 50% are still holding out, so its is not wall to wall darkness, but is darkness and light swirling now in dread vortex.
i always assauge my deep cynicism of mankind in the OVERALL when i contemplate the wonder of individuals that rise above the dark forces .
There is a famous psychologist that has studied deeply the capacity of seemingly ordinary people to become beasts.
Some years ago he made an experiment of guards and prisoners. He gave the guards no supervision except "Don't do anything to hurt them".
The "guards" were all seemingly nice stable Stanford students.
The guards were given a plain non-descript uniform and were to wear reflecting sunglasses so their eyes could not been seen.
The psychologist (i need get his name for you, something like Zimbardo) had no idea what would happen, but he did not anticipate really how HORRIBLE the experiment would become.
He had to STOP the experiment in 6 days . As he said, within 6 days he had an all-out Abu-Graib. The guards (All-America type White Stanford students) had become uncontrolled BEASTS--most them that is:NOT all.
He has just written i second book on this which he calls "The Lucifer Principle"
But he states that he feels it is NOW VERY IMPORTANT to study the minority that have the INNER STRENGTH to NOT become beast, to rise above the darkness and shine instead.
He says civilization may depend on learning what makes this constant minority, in all evil situations, be so extraordinary, rising above the evil and doing the right thing.
He wants to study them.
And i say yes, about time.:)Max

Just posted this on Stockman thread.
My guess American Spirit types will be gung-ho "get Iran" if this tempest in a teapot proceeds into boiling over status.
<<i am just wondering how long before the anti-iran war "liberals" will be shifting to "get those damned Iranians!" as western media tars and feathers Iran regards Brit sailors eventhough they have NO evidence other than the Blair's/Brit Navy claim of absolute innocence of British.
Blair word, and British military word is no better that the relentless liars of Bush and his military supporters.
Democracy Now Radio had a spokeperson for The Carnegie Peace Institute declaring this was a brazen and illegal act by Iran.

Based on what? Based on that is what you are to believe if you are a loyal american.

o yes, Brits are big on they were acting legally under the U.N.Mandate.
Which means the Bush mandate, nothing more.Max>>
