It's interesting that this Pope would say Hell is an actual place, when his predecessor said on more than one occasion that it isn't.

Reminds me of the time back in the 90s when there was a lot of talk about God being female. There was a front page headline in the Daily News saying "Cardinal O'Conner Says God is a Man".

Must be great to be privy to that kind of reliable inside information.

Pope doesn't buy into it anyway. He's saying that hell is an actual, physical place.

John Paul II said Message 23406504

"Rather than a place, hell indicates the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy"

One can interpret that in the afterlife, people who have sinned are unhappy.

I guess one could extrapolate that the more sinful stuff you did, the less happy you are.

But now rules have changed and instead of being miserable and walking next to your angelic neighbor, you end up in their BBQ pit? Maybe it depends on what the rulesafre when you croak...
