A good idea. I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia over 20 years ago. The doc put me on tagamet and gaviscon for a few weeks and it seemed to clear up. I've had occasional heartburn, but not often since then. That is, up until a few months ago and it came back with a roar. During my physical in January, I told the doc about it and he said the hernia never goes away entirely and it wasn't unusual for it to return. I told him I was drinking glasses of baking soda to stop the burn. He said that was one way to control it and it's relatively safe.

I mentioned this on the Recipe board the other day and Shootie suggested I get a bottle of Multi Enzyme pills with HCL. Now, just a day and a half of using them and I haven't had a problem with the burn. Too soon to announce a cure, but I'll keep it up for the duration of the bottle. I'll certainly now by then.

Hi Suma, I have to run now. Glad that you found a new thread of health issues. I will post later about the research in Israel about getting cancer cell to commit "suicide" and the treatment that has been given to cancer patients.

Good idea for a thread Suma. Glad you started it. We are big fans of the "Peoples Pharmacy" which is by some local folks, but they are syndicated nationally. They provide some interesting remedies. One of the strangest I have encountered is this: If one has leg cramps when you go to bed, put a bar of soap under the sheet below your legs. I laughed at this, then I tried it. Haven't had leg cramps during the night in months. It worked. Don't ask why. Just used a little bar of hotel soap, too.
