I can relate to eating late. I can't even eat later than about 5. I definitely can't eat a bite for at least 4 hours prior to bedtime or I'll be up half the night. For the past year or more, I only eat twice a day and feel better for that. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I'll get back out for good walks. That seems to help with digestion, too.

I'd like to weigh in on the heartburn. First of all, you should make sure that you're not over-eating. I'm not trying to be stupid here but it happens frequently. Barring that, eating a Granny Smith apple after your meal will stop most heartburn because GS apples have a generous amount of malic acid that helps with digestion. Ginger tea typically stops heartburn within a few minutes. Lastly, the theory on normal indigestion is rooted in the idea that there are not enough healthy bifido and lactobacillus in the entire intestinal tract. Kefir, made by Helio, sold in health food stores is a solid contender for reducing heartburn. You have to drink kefir for about two weeks and continue drinking it irregularly or supplement with lactobacillus. The kefir has really worked for me and it's also very tasty.
