If you believe that the Y2K crisis was avoided because concerned companies spent billions of dollars then I can see how you feel that the "overwhelming consensus among climatologists is that global warming is real and not a scam."

It's not just a few skeptics.....

If our governments were truly serious would they not make the use of hybrids mandatory in say 5 years ? They do make a big difference in short trip driving... How about eliminating long haul trucking ? Now there's a feedback loop.. How about complete logging bans on old growth forests.... restrict it to tree farming...

There is a lot of merit in many things we should do to slow our contribution to the warming trend which would reduce noxious air pollution, conserve resources etc.. ... mostly I expect to see a lot of political hay made...

The only debate is whether the warming is anthropogenic in nature. Given that CO2 levels lag temperature changes, Mars is also warming, and human CO2 emissions make up low single digits percentage wise of overall emissions, I would say it is not anthropogenic - JMHO.
