Standard view of Merck is "not invented here syndrome". They buy research companies because the price is a rounding error, but are more reticent about operating companies.

It's been years since I've followed Merck, and the last time I looked at this aspect of their corporate culture was when they bought Sibia. Perhaps I need some updating, for which I will be grateful.

Might be number one on their list, for all I know. Are you asking a question unrelated to my post, or were you confused by my joking with rkrw??

I don't like companies that actually sell stuff, so I don't follow SEPR, other than reading the excellent commentary here, in this thread.
