Israel advanced its size by fighting defensive wars. It was very willing to trade land for security at every stage. We can see that by the 1979 accord with Egypt. But the two are not symetrical by nature, as one is tangible and not easily revocable, and the other is intangible and revocable in a second.

Furthermore, we can see by the Pals reaction that they do not want Palestine next to Israel, but only instead of Israel. They regard Palestine next to Israel as a humiliating consolation prize that the West is trying to force on them.

No, it's a western conception that the issue is land vs. security. That's how the Israelis see it. The Arab conception is "justice" vs. "humiliation" and both, in their opinion, demand the dissolution of Israel.
