This nation has always handled dissent pretty well. I don't think the fact that we are debating pulling out of Iraq would cause the Iranians to take an action that could cause us to increase our role in their neck of the woods...unless you theory is that they want us to stay in Iraq.

If they wanted us to leave so they could roll in and take over hegemony of that part of the world, just stay quiet and let the left pull our troops out. They did the opposite.

And, they took on the Brits, not us.

I think you are just too ready to read every negative event as automatically the fault of the libs. Remember, they were moving right along with their nuclear plans a year ago when the republicans were in charge of everything..and they didn't seem to slow down on whatever course they were following because American government was all republican.

If what you are saying is that no one should dissent against policies they disagree with, I dont' think that is quite the American way.

Re: "agenda of weakness"

THAT ain't it, LOL, (although *confusion* and incompetence likely are playing their usual significant roles....)

Suggest you give this Intelligence analysis (by a fine bunch of well-connected MI & economics analysts out of Texas) a read when you can find the time, GZ. (It posits an interesting proposition, that the US --- and, for all I know, most other large and powerful and complex nations --- habitually UNDERESTIMATES the source of it's *true strengths*, while also habitually OVERESTIMATING other factors that it nconsiders to be it's real strengths... but that are in actuality not it's trump cards.)

The analysis uses, as it's examples to explicate this proposition, every significant US war (hot or cold) since the 'big one' WW II. It challenges quite a few sacred cows.

Fascinating examination of how 'conventional wisdom' and politically correct thought is USUALLY incorrect, (& how political establishments are usually fighting 'the last war'.):
