Don't blame Bush for US policy never to negotiate with terrorists. It's been our policy forever.

You might take notice that the Iranians kidnapped the British sailors within a very short time after the Italians traded their imprisoned terrorists for a kidnapped Italian.

Sent a very bad signal, I thought at the time, and, sure enough, it emboldened the Iranians.

Nothing succeeds like success. Which is why you don't negotiate with criminals like kidnappers and blackmailers. Once you give them what they want, they don't ever away. They're criminals, duh.

Capitulation is for cowards, which is simply an observation of truth, not calling names just to call names.
