(Always amazed at how severe, in a relative sense, is the punishment for petty theft!)

Given the three-strikes and you're out laws of some states, I'd vote that well take the mean economic value of the crimes that result in the law being applied, and apply 3x that value as a single-strike and you're out for white collar crime. :))

That's exactly right, you rip off a 7-11 and get 20 years for maybe a couple hundred bucks. You destroy people's lives and pocket hundreds of millions of dollars, and former President Bush will tell all 'Kenny Boy was a fine man'....
