Mindmeld, you see, this is all Bush's fault. Had we converted to 100% solar energy like Al Gore wanted in 2000, had we not gone into Afghanistan and Iraq like uncultured baboons, had we just let Saddam be and gone after Osama, and had we not played this game called "Axis of Evil," Iran would have never kidnapped those British soldiers.

Impeach Bush!

Sincerely,
LOL-zor

"It's clear as glass that they were in Iraqi waters and Iran is completely in the wrong."

Why do you say this? Both sides showed GPS's that "proved" their case! Because Iran are the "bad" guys and lie? LOL!

Haven't you learned ANYTHING? BOTH sides lie like rugs.

so what do you make of Iran's kidnap of the British soldiers? It's clear as glass that they were in Iraqi waters and Iran is completely in the wrong.

I don't think its clear as glass.....those waters have been disputed for decades. Initially, Britain referred to their guys being in "international waters". There are no international waters in the Gulf as far as Iraq and Iran are concerned:

"The question of the sailors' location at the time of their arrest has been further clouded by arguments here and in the United States about whether there is a clear maritime frontier between Iran and Iraq. As the dispute escalated, both sides produced nautical charts purporting to show a clear demarcation of territorial waters, and the locations of the British boats when they were seized.

But Craig Murray, a former British diplomat and Foreign Office specialist on maritime affairs, said, "There is no agreed maritime boundary between Iraq and Iran in the Gulf. Until the current mad propaganda exercise of the last week, nobody would have found that in the least a controversial statement."

And what were the Brits doing in the Gulf? Probably spying on the Iranians.

How do you think Britain or the US should react?

Keep negotiating.......Iran has a reason for this BS. I think its mostly for propaganda but they may also use it to get back the diplomatic Iranians who were arrested by the Americans a few months back.

Does this deserve a war footing with Iran?

I don't think so, do you?

Lately, it seems that Iran has been able to act with impunity and their actions are getting bolder by the week.

Of course. Think about it. For years, the US supported the evil Shah and his rich friends at the expense of the poor people in Iran; the US emphatically opposed the ayatollahs coming into power; the US supplied Saddam with all kinds of weaponry during his '80s war with Iran; during that same war, we placed an economic boycott around Iran........Iran was nearly on its knees.......many thousands died at the hands of Saddam due in no small part to the US; during the past 7 years, the US has maintained a war of words with Iran, calling them the axis of evil.

Now if you were Iran, would you not take advantage of the fact that the US is caught between a rock and hard place due to the incompetence of its president and those who surround him?

Listen, I am not routing for Iran......in fact, they piss me off........they seem a lot like the neocons here. But we have been playing a game of chess badly and Iran is taking advantage of that fact. I don't think its worth starting another war when we can't afford one....but then that's me.
I don't think you're moving towards when you start wars at the drop of a hat.
