Their description is a bit ambiguous, but it sounds functionally similar to a couple experimental devices I recall from roughly 5 years ago. If I recall, NTT labs was one of the purveyors of a similar-sounding device, and I vaguely remember a start-up, for some reason I'm thinking they were based in Israel, that was also going down the same path of using a "seed" wavelength received by all ONUs, then modulating that by a unique amount per ONU, so that all ONU's on a given node have a unique transmit wavelength. But I may misunderstand their description.
