Israel and the US are both still obeying the GC. They just don't feel like giving suicide bombers and their handlers (there is always a network behind the splodeydope) the rights of legitimate POWS. What could they possibly gain? You think Al Qaeda or Hamas will treat captured Americans and Israelis according to the GCs?

The laws of war were never obeyed out of altruism, but because each side had a reasonable hope of reciprocity and prisoner exchanges. When news filtered out that one side was shooting prisoners, the other side began shooting prisoners also. This certainly happened several times in WWII.
