Jim Baker's study group (GHW Bush's people) and the Joint Chiefs Of Staff are all against the surge. The escalation, I mean. It's an escalation and a prolongation of a hopeless occupation. It is not a war it is our military sitting between two sides of a civil war with some terrorists thrown in like gasoline on the fire. We can't win militarily because we're on their turf and we visually can't tell who the enemy are.
