I think there are multiple causes of cancer that are being fueled by an environment that is deteriorating in quality.

Cancer can definitely be genetic but carcinogenic compounds also aggravate whatever "turns on" cancer cells and keeps our body from destroying them.

Sorry to her about your Dad but glad you are still among us!!!

I also am a cancer survivor. My Mom and sister both died of breast cancer. I had bilateral breast cancer back in the early nineties. Because of early diagnosis I escaped mastectomies and had stage one with both primary tumors. I chose to have chemotherapy even tho it wasn't necessary with stage one at the time. I also had radiation treatment. My Mom and sister and I all got it at the same age. My sister had a very aggressive form and I suspect my Mom did also but it's hard to be certain as she died in 1960.

I drove myself to all my appointments and worked part time during the whole ordeal. My first month of chemo didn't phase me so the oncologist upped the dose by 20% because the purpose is to deliver the highest toxicity level possible.

Sometimes I feel guilty for being relatively unscathed from two separate primary cancers.

It's been over 14 years since the last tumor which was cancer insitu.

Early diagnosis is truly the best defense.

Everyone should encourage breast self exam and annual checkups for all women that are cared about.........Moms, wives, sisters, daughters and friends.

Fear of diagnosis is what will kill you............not the cancer as the longer you wait the worse it will be.

I ran into the Dr at the very first sign of a lump and faced what I suspected was going to be cancer. My Dr. said that the vast majority of women would never have found it or waited till it had gotten larger before seeking medical attention.
