By my value system, if a country can afford to start wars, then it can afford to clean up the impact it has on the environment.

1 - Depending on how you define "clean up the impact it has on the environment" the cost could dwarf the cost of the war.

2 - If you assume your more recent statement (quoted above) is true it still doesn't make your earlier statement anything other than illogical. Even if something can be afforded the cost would have to be considered, otherwise you wouldn't know it could be afforded.

Well maybe you mean the cost, however high it might be, is affordable, but that statement is nonsense on stilts.

If you mean "the cost won't really be so incredibly high so we can afford it", then you ARE considering the cost, and making an actual cost benefit decision, not "damning the cost"
