You got most of it right. But some people overuse symbols, they wrap themselves up in the flag and call others of a different viewpoint unpatriotic .

Look at the picture of Osama you posted. He is not a symbol of Muslims.
He is a symbol of a terrorist. Specifically he is a symbol of the Taliban who sponsored him. He is a symbol of radical Muslims. From what I have read radical Muslims comprise about 10 to 15% of all Muslims. 85% of the Muslims want no part of the the lifestyle that the Taliban demanded. It was too astere (no music, no education for women, a rule by religious courts etc).
