Since you guys are talking about reality and perception, I am interested in knowing why all sense of morality is thrown out the window when considering the actions of the U.S. government and military?

For one thing, why is there even a common belief among conservatives that the U.S. government and military are motivated by moral principals? I do not see the foundation for that perception in our society? Little is done in our society based on morality of any kind. Our society is based on making a profit and maintaining power, not acting on a moral basis. So, why the disconnect with the actions of the U.S. government and military? Why are their actions considered moral?

Also, the reality of the record demonstrates no morality on the part of the U.S. government and military in their actions, unless one completely distorts the concept of morality to fit their goals (ends justify the means). How can invading a country that never attacked us and killing a lot of innocent citizensin the process, like say Panama in 1989 or Iraq in 2004-present, be considered moral? How can U.S. servicemen who commit premeditated murder in the middle of the night in Iraq, like that sick crew from Texas did who are now in jail for raping a teenage Iraqi girl and killing and burning her family, be considered moral? These sick young American men are in jail for their crimes. Please explain the morality of their actions.

I am asking a simple question, since people like conservatives have a rationale for supporting the U.S. government and military in all their endevors, I want to know why they try to justify their support based on morality arguements when in reality the record does not support this arguement. What morality?
