I am stating that the Iraq war is unconstitutional, which it is by definition because the power to declare war and take the nation to war, as clearly stated in the U.S. Constitution, lies with the Congress, and Congress has not declared war on Iraq or Afghanistan (and did not on Viet Nam either, so the Democrats are just as guilty of this unconstitutional drift). The Iraq war is by definition unconstitutional; it does not have the legitmacy granted by our Constitution. I consider anyone who would support unconstitutional wars to be of suspect moral judgement. If one has no problem supporting unconstitutional wars, then what moral code do they live by? As I said, if the U.S. government and its conservative (statist) supporters want others in American society to support their never ending wars, then at least they could start out by following the U.S. Constitution to declare and engage in foreign wars. To ignore this important stipulation of our Constiution to start a war, immmediately turns many people off, like myself, who are interested in the rule of law and adhering to constitutional government. Our founding fathers were not stupid. They knew that powerful rulers can abuses that power and take the nation recklessly to war. That is why they left the power to declare war and take the nation to war with Congress, and not in the hands of one chieft executive. It is Bush who chose this unconstitutional course. The debate right now would be much different if he obtained a Declaration of War to grant legmitmacy to his invasion of Iraq. What do you say about the Democrats and Republicans ignoring our constituiton's war declaration mandate? Do you have any concerns about these dictatorial and unconstitutional actions? I sure do. I find it morally replusive. What are we as a nation if we do not follow the Constitution.
