I believe if gold goes to 10K per ounce as a relatively stable "floor" that we are going to see social upheavel on a very grand scale. To be clear I mean an ounce of gold selling for 10K an ounce for at minimum a year.


That changes the picture considerably and the scenario becomes much more like Argentina a few years ago, except on steroids. Instead of a banana republic, we'd be looking at a rotten banana fascistic republic (RBFR in Mogambo-ese <g>).


Bart what do you think would have happened had the gubbment allowed the hunt brothers to corner the silver market? Why intervene in the free market and not allow them to hoard the metal?


Too many variables, especially in Fed and Volcker land. But assuming similar actions by the Fed and other central banks as what did occur, a number of commercials would have had to go into bankruptcy and silver would have taken longer to drop back down to below $10-15.
And Bunky and company would have appeared on a Time cover and probably also would have been pilloried.
