I think they should include classes on the pharmacology of herbal medicines in med school. I believe EU doctors have such training, and most of the trials that you read about have been run in the EU or Japan. They are very active in this area, and there is no reason we could not be- although there is very little lobbying for it, since big pharma doesn't make big money from herbal medicine.

Suma: I have had some low back pain problems and recently went to a holistic treatment center in my neighborhood north of Chicago - it was a great experience that helped a lot...The professionals are highly trained in Oriental Medicine...

Rachel Cook did acupuncture treatments on me and used some Thai massage...she also discussed the importance of posture and prescribed some Chinese Herbs that they sell in their clinic...

Years ago I worked in the big pharma industry but I'm now much more open-minded about using "alternative treatments"...IMO, there's a lot of over-prescribing of expensive pharmaceuticals.
