bd- This is the WWI Western Front Stategy. Each side is going to be influenced by their lawyers trying to find a new way to make a breakthrough. The two sides will go with many of these and the lawyers will no doubt enrich themselves but all their plans will fail to make the decisive breakthrough. This is going to go on for years. I pity our poor thread that is going to get hung up on the minutia of every one of these cases as they come to light.

There is one fundamental and unchanging fixed fact and that is that NOK will never never never pay Q one penny more after the current amounts due and accrued to whatever date in April.

They will do this because they can. Simple as that. If BRCM faught Q to draw in San Diego just imagine what NOK can do in a European Court.

Don't forget this has the elements of "pound of flesh" on the European continent. Poor humble Finnish people being bullied by the unreasonable Q and its demands.

Still my guess is that NOK won't be able to get an injunction due to the complex arguments surrounding every patent. I don't agree that there will be hundreds of lawsuits involving $bns in legal fees. It's not necessary and won't suit either sides strategy.

This game has always been about whether either side could get an injuction. Failing that it then becomes a game of lawyers influencing each side that they have a breakthrough stategy ie as I have said, legal trench warfare.

Meanwhile NOKs life is going to get progressively harder as the Chinese handset manufacturers gain in strength from qtr to qtr. One day MOT might come back to life as well.

Meantime Q's buiness is good and it should remain so for the next few years NOK or no NOK. W-cdma is going to gain in sales for the next few years and if Q can keep up the enhancements and Media Flo takes off then NOKs strategy will gradually reduce in importance to the Q.

Best,

L
