And it took less than 10 minutes to quick charge for a flat, say $5. And the car was faster, and required less maintenance (except for new batteries every 3-4 years)? And they were clean and quiet. And what if oil was priced at $5 per gallon. What would you buy?

I'll admit that it will take re-education of the public. However, that shouldn't be too hard given a recent study that was done. It found that the majority of Americans (something like 90%) drive less than 50 miles a day. So given that fact, a car getting 100 miles per charge would service the needs of more than 90% of Americans in their daily usage. It wouldn't work for long haul truckers, UPS drivers, and taxis, but that's ok. We're going with the 80/20 rule here. BTW, already there are 100% fully electric cars that are being offered that get much more than 250 miles per charge.
