There are a lot of times that I prefer plain old silence. Even that has some background noise.....white noise etc..

I very rarely turn on any sound when I'm home during the day.

I love my iPod. It plugs into everything including home stereo. I had an auxiliary input on my car stereo so we ran a micro plug so I could play direct from my iPod. It sounds great although I've had several near miss collisions while searching for a band.
