8bits,
I would literally rather be dead than condemned to live in Singapore. I can't stand the place. Give me Indonesia or the Philippines any day.

To each their own...the net flow of migrants is heavily towards Singapore from the Philippines and Indonesia... not the other way around... as for you or I.. well.. we are Americans (and I assuming for you ...) and have a bit of cash in our pockets. This helps plenty in places like Indonesia and PI. To be blunt also the only place I have experienced so called "White Privilege", that obnoxious phrase of the new left, is in places like the PI, IN, and Thailand. European descended people seem to be granted extra status in Southeast Asia. (quickly removed if you Fth Up...) It's good to be "royalty" not so nice when people decide to associate you with some less pleasant types of people who share your phenotype.

If polled as to whether the average Filipino or Indonesian would like to live in Singapore (or for that matter the US..) how do you think they would respond..?

You would just have to go live there in the boondocks to understand this. Life there, in the countryside, is very good.

I have been to PI (but haven't spend much time there..) and rural Thailand.. to me Thailand was ok for a while but overall I would not choose to be a rural Thai or Filipino.

Believe me, the Manila system works VERY WELL.

I am all about defending myself, family or friends if threatened ...this, to some degree, still exists in rural parts of the US... As for the system working very well.. I have heard stories that conflict with this.. (and I did like many of Filipinos that I met..)

To some degree we are getting off topic, I was talking about the desire, ability, and willingness of powerful and/or armed locals in the world to seize property based upon someone's "foreigness" or perception of wealth.

Would it be ok in the US if some Whites chased out Blacks from a neighborhood because of the perception that they were criminals?, how about "foreign" ethnic Chinese or Japanese people..? How about Blacks attacking Whites because they are "rich" or decended from "oppressors" (and their names are "Yablonski") All of these things have happen in the US.. should we return to this lifestyle..?

Elmat seemed to think the majority of these cases were justified.. in the case of Mexico I would say a 100% of the cases (for private individuals) I have heard about were NOT justified. As for hiring private armies.. you hire someone who is already in the army.. problem solved.. then there is no onflict with the real army. Varies from place to place but to some degree this is fairly widespread.
