Are you not overlooking perhaps the most important recession indicator -- the stock market.

We have never had a recession that was not preceded by a serious stock market decline. We have had big stock drops without recessions but not visa versa.

And the minor turbulence we have seen so far in the market is not even close to the kind of weakness we must see if a recession is to develop. Perhaps soon but no cigar as yet.
