Oeconomicus, I took your previous post to longnshort just as you described it in your reply to me. I apologize for not making that clear. And I'm glad you agree with my POV.

To the thread;
Look, I'm not a prude nor am I unrealistic. We're discussing politics. That means that emotions are naturally going to run high quite often. And given the ridiculously relentless levels of divisiveness in today's politics emotional outbursts are going to happen even more often.

I have had my share of instances when I've used very harsh rhetoric, biting sarcasm & personal attacks. However, when I do use them I make sure they are reasonably accurate based on credible evidence. And I don't do it excessively.

So I'd be a hypocrite to ban others for engaging in them or demanding that no one else is ever allowed to use them. All I'm asking is that we apply the standards described in the previous paragraph as best we can.
