I have always cooked with a lot of turmeric- but that is so interesting about the pigmentation! I have had some age spots on my hands (careless sun damage), and they've just about gone away! I thought it was the lotion I was putting on my hands, but it corresponds to my increased taking of turmeric. :-)

Thanks!

My neighbor (who commutes to DC) works for the National Cancer Institute and said they are doing a study, to be published soon, on the benefits of curcumin, a derivative of turmeric. They too have noticed the effects of this in the Indian subcontinent. Apprently inflammation is a big cause of breast cancers and curcumin helps.
