One of the things i have noticed is that this is considered a way to play politics in the Middle East, while it is not thought to be so in the West. So I think that our understanding needs to be improved, if we are to win. I think we were fooled by Saddam's rhetoric, and we have to really concentrate on how things appear to Middle Eastern People. For instance is Condoleeza Rice or Nancy Pelosi a suitable representative? Because in the middle East would they not be considered as less than men? Are we causing our own problems because we have not considered what we are "saying" in terms of how they will perceive our messengers?

I am also wondering about the "Healthy Debate" about Military Finances. Will the Democrats Rhetoric be seen as making the United States weaker, and destroy any chance the President has of having any room to negotiate, simply because he will be seen as having no power, thus raising the death counts? After all Middle Eastern leaders would have had the opposition shot, a luxury neither appreciated nor encouraged in a Democracy.

Here's how ABC News titles the story on their homepage regarding the recess appointment of Sam Fox as ambassador to Belgium (emphasis mine):

<<< “Major Donor to 'Swift Boat' Smear Ads Is Made an Ambassador“ >>>

Then in the body of the article...

<<< Kerry and Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., led Senate Democrats' opposition to Fox, who in 2004 contributed $50,000 to the slanderous Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which used a series of television ads to undermine Kerry's combat record. >>>

And in the spirit of Passover...

<<< Despite his grilling by Democrats, Fox, the national chairman of the Jewish Republican Coalition, refused to apologize for his donation. >>>
