Net metering is a joke and not worth it, but you are right in the costs of running power to the property, and if it runs more than $20k then photo volts make more sense.

But $4000 per kw for solar vs $100 in junk yard parts for a 1kw micro hydro system that works 24/7 vs 8 to 10 hours per day for solar you can see where you will get more bang for the amp.

All assuming flowing water is available....
